Tamarack, located near 07079, offers specialized programs for children aged 3-15, tailored to their unique physical and developmental stages. Beyond just learning new hobbies like swimming and baseball, your child will also gain independence, confidence, teamwork, a willingness to explore new activities, determination, social and emotional intelligence, integrity, leadership, and resilience through the Tamarack Experience. Our comprehensive facilities include central transportation, a lunch program, and a 37-acre site with an Olympic-sized pool, Pro-turf sports complex, air-conditioned studios, skate park, ropes course, and zip lines, all designed to foster these life skills within the context of a traditional day camp’s fun and adventure.
Tamarack offers tailored programs for our youngest campers, conveniently located near 07079. We provide various options in our Munchkin Division, including 5-full-day, 3-full-day, and 5-half-day choices. Our commitment to personalized attention is reflected in our low camper to staff ratio.
Within the Munchkin Division, our dedicated Munchkin Specialists are specifically trained to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-olds. They lead a range of age-appropriate athletic and creative activities that focus on advancing motor skills. Additionally, our comprehensive swimming program ensures that every child acquires this essential skill. Our program places a strong emphasis on social development. Children learn to interact respectfully and confidently in a group setting. Additionally, they are introduced to more advanced pursuits such as Archery, Mountain Biking, and High Ropes, allowing them to expand their skill set. The CHOICE program empowers junior campers to select their preferred activities, giving them a sense of autonomy and allowing them to further develop their interests and abilities. Special events like Junior Late Nights extend the camp experience with additional activities and a twilight campfire, enhancing the fun and camaraderie.

In addition, they can explore their creative side in our air-conditioned studios, which offer programs in ceramics, music, and cooking. Our senior campers also enjoy swimming in our state-of-the-art aquatic facility, with tailored swim lessons and free swim sessions to improve their skills. For those seeking adventure, our comprehensive ropes course offers opportunities for climbing, ziplining, and rappelling. Choices abound, including participating in the annual Drama Production or special Dance routines, with performances being a key feature of the camp experience. At Tamarack, our 7th, 8th, and 9th graders have the exclusive opportunity to be part of our dynamic Teen Travel Program. This program offers a balanced blend of thrilling day trips and engaging on-camp activities, ensuring a well-rounded experience for our teens. On camp days, our teens follow a structured group schedule that includes activities such as free swim, ropes courses, and a variety of athletic and creative pursuits, all thoughtfully guided by our experienced counselors. During their off-camp adventures, our teens are required to adhere to strict Tamarack Travel Safety Protocols, prioritizing their safety at all times. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, both the teen campers and their parents commit to our Teen Travel Behavior Contract.
In addition to our vigilant safety measures, a dedicated Division Head oversees the Teen Travel Programs within the camp and accompanies them on trips, adding an extra layer of supervision and support. Our Teen Staff receive specialized training to effectively supervise campers in public settings and address the unique challenges of the early teenage years. Located near 07079, Oak Crest’s camp counselors play a pivotal role in guiding campers through team-building challenges and competitions. At Oak Crest, we are dedicated to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. Our primary focus is on creating a nurturing and caring environment where children and young teens can develop crucial emotional and social skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.
The Leader-In-Training (LIT) Experience at Tamarack is a dynamic program designed for 10th graders, aiming to equip them with vital leadership skills and practical experience that will benefit them in their first job, college, and beyond. It serves as a valuable transition from being a camper to becoming a counselor, with a strong emphasis on problem-solving, positive role modeling, and effective teamwork. LITs are entrusted with meaningful responsibilities and provided with constructive feedback, enabling them to develop into successful staff members in the future. One highlight of the program is a 6-day leadership trip in collaboration with Windsor Mountain. This adventure focuses on teamwork, leadership, and responsibility, challenging teens to step out of their comfort zones and push their boundaries.
