Summer Camp near 07876, NJ

Tamarack, located near 07876, offers a wide range of programs for children aged 3-15, each carefully tailored to their specific physical and developmental stages. Our mission-driven approach ensures a nurturing environment where campers can acquire various skills and essential life competencies. We are dedicated to creating deliberate opportunities for success, ultimately leading to a summer experience that fosters greater confidence, independence, and a well-rounded personality.

Beyond the typical activities like swimming or baseball, your child will develop a multitude of valuable traits such as independence, confidence, teamwork, a willingness to explore new activities, determination, social and emotional intelligence, integrity, leadership, and resilience. The Tamarack Experience is made even better with central transportation, a comprehensive lunch program, and a 37-acre facility equipped with a heated Olympic-size pool, a state-of-the-art sports complex with Pro-turf, air-conditioned studios, a skate park, ropes course, and zip lines. All of these amenities are designed to facilitate the acquisition of these life skills while ensuring that your child has a blast in a traditional day camp setting.

3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)

Tamarack offers tailored programs for our youngest campers, conveniently located near Mendham. We provide various options in our Munchkin Division, including 5-full-day, 3-full-day, and 5-half-day choices. Our commitment to personalized attention is reflected in our low camper to staff ratio.

Within the Munchkin Division, our dedicated Munchkin Specialists are specifically trained to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-olds. They lead a range of age-appropriate athletic and creative activities that focus on advancing motor skills. Additionally, our comprehensive swimming program ensures that every child acquires this essential skill.

Our program places a strong emphasis on social development. Children learn to interact respectfully and confidently in a group setting. We provide dedicated meal times and spaces that cater to their nutritional needs, all within a caring and supportive environment. This ensures that our youngest campers have a positive and enriching experience at Tamarack.

Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)

Tamarack’s Explorer program is designed to provide an evolving and engaging experience for campers living near Mendham. We tailor the program to meet the needs and interests of different age groups.

For 1st graders, the Explorer program introduces them to exciting activities like the Zipline and Giant Swing, along with games like GAGA. They also get to experience modified traditional sports, creative arts such as ceramics and drama, and a comprehensive Learn-to-Swim Program in our state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Additionally, 2nd graders have the freedom to choose their weekly activities during the CHOICE period, including participating in our Learn to Bike Program.

Explorers also have the opportunity to challenge themselves on our inspected and certified ropes courses, starting with the Confidence Course. Throughout their journey in the program, campers develop important social and emotional intelligence. They learn to collaborate and show respect for others while thriving in a nurturing and supportive environment. This ensures that campers have a fulfilling and enriching experience as they grow and explore at Tamarack.

Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)

Junior campers at Tamarack, located near 07876, have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of creative and athletic activities that cater to their interests and skill development. These activities include twice-daily swims and the introduction to more advanced pursuits such as Archery, Mountain Biking, and High Ropes.

In our camp, we value autonomy and personal growth. That’s why we have the CHOICE program, which allows Junior campers to select their preferred activities, enabling them to further develop their skills and interests. We also organize special events like Junior Late Nights, extending camp access with additional activities and a twilight campfire, to create memorable experiences.

Our Junior campers actively participate in various sports on full-size fields, helping them improve their physical abilities. They also have the opportunity to enhance their biking skills through a comprehensive program, and explore their creativity in our air-conditioned art studios.

Swimming is a crucial skill, and our state-of-the-art aquatic facility supports their progression in this area. Furthermore, our ropes course offers a range of challenges that help Junior campers develop important social skills and teamwork, all within a bully-free environment. We focus on fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere where campers can thrive.

Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)

Senior campers at Tamarack, conveniently located near 07876, have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of enriching activities that cater to their evolving interests and skills. These activities include advanced sports such as soccer, football, tennis, and lacrosse, as well as creative arts like ceramics, music, and cooking, all enjoyed in our comfortable air-conditioned studios.

Our senior campers benefit from specialized athletic and creative programs, with a strong emphasis on skill development and game play. One of the highlights of their experience is the array of exciting day trips, with Camelbeach being a perennial favorite. Additionally, Senior Late Nights offer unique evenings filled with dinner, extra activities, and twilight campfires, fostering a sense of camaraderie and adventure.

In addition to these engaging activities, our senior campers have structured swimming sessions in our state-of-the-art aquatic facility. These include tailored swim lessons and free swim sessions, ensuring they not only enjoy the water but also improve their swimming abilities.

For the adventurous spirits, our comprehensive ropes course offers thrilling experiences such as climbing, ziplining, and rappelling, all under the guidance of trained instructors. Campers can also opt to participate in the annual Drama Production or special Dance routines, with performances serving as a key feature of our camp experience.

Throughout their time at Tamarack, our focus remains on building essential social skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting personal growth in a supportive and bully-free environment, ensuring every camper feels safe and empowered to thrive.

Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)

At Tamarack, our 7th, 8th, and 9th graders have the exclusive opportunity to be part of our dynamic Teen Travel Program. This program offers a balanced blend of thrilling day trips and engaging on-camp activities, ensuring a well-rounded experience for our teens.

On camp days, our teens follow a structured group schedule that includes activities such as free swim, ropes courses, and a variety of athletic and creative pursuits, all thoughtfully guided by our experienced counselors.

During their off-camp adventures, our teens are required to adhere to strict Tamarack Travel Safety Protocols, prioritizing their safety at all times. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, both the teen campers and their parents commit to our Teen Travel Behavior Contract.

In addition to our vigilant safety measures, a dedicated Division Head oversees the Teen Travel Programs within the camp and accompanies them on trips, adding an extra layer of supervision and support. Our Teen Staff receive specialized training to effectively supervise campers in public settings and address the unique challenges of the early teenage years.

Social Development

Located near 07876 , our camp counselors at Oak Crest play a pivotal role in guiding campers through a series of team-building challenges and competitions. This structured approach is designed to foster essential skills such as teamwork, communication, and support.

Our emphasis on teamwork not only enhances campers’ abilities but also cultivates respect among peers, laying the foundation for lifelong friendships. Furthermore, Oak Crest holds a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment where children and young teens can flourish emotionally and socially.

Our commitment is to create a caring and nurturing space that prioritizes the development of these vital emotional and social skills, ultimately helping campers grow into well-rounded individuals who are equipped to navigate the challenges of life with confidence and empathy.

LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)

Tamarack’s Leader-In-Training (LIT) Experience, tailored for 10th graders near Madison, is a dynamic and transformative program that equips participants with crucial leadership skills and practical experience for their future endeavors, whether it’s their first job, college, or beyond.

The LIT program serves as a vital bridge, guiding these young individuals from the role of a camper to that of a counselor. Its core focus lies in developing problem-solving abilities, honing role modeling skills, and fostering a strong sense of teamwork among participants.

As part of the LIT program, teenagers take on meaningful responsibilities and receive constructive feedback. This feedback is instrumental in their growth as it helps them evolve into successful staff members in the future.

One of the program’s highlights is an adventurous 6-day leadership trip in collaboration with Windsor Mountain. This trip places significant emphasis on teamwork, leadership, and personal responsibility. It challenges teens to step out of their comfort zones, leading to significant personal growth.

Ultimately, the LIT Experience not only enriches the camp community but also profoundly impacts the participants’ personal development, paving the way for enhanced future opportunities as they embark on their journey beyond the camp setting.
