Beyond mere hobbies like swimming or baseball, your child will foster independence, confidence, teamwork, a willingness to explore new activities, determination, social and emotional intelligence, integrity, leadership, and resilience. The Tamarack Experience is enhanced with central transportation, a comprehensive lunch program, and a 37-acre facility featuring a heated Olympic-size pool, Pro-turf sports complex, air-conditioned studios, skate park, ropes course, and zip lines. These amenities are designed to facilitate the development of life skills amidst the enjoyable and adventurous atmosphere of a traditional day camp.
Located near Morris Township, Tamarack offers tailored programs for our youngest campers, including 5-full-day, 3-full-day, and 5-half-day options within our Munchkin Division. We maintain a low camper to staff ratio to provide personalized attention. Our Munchkin Specialists, trained specifically to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-olds, lead a variety of scaled-down athletic and creative activities aimed at advancing motor skills. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive swimming program to ensure every child learns this vital skill.
Our program places a strong emphasis on social development. Children learn to interact respectfully and confidently in a group setting, fostering essential social skills. Dedicated meal times and spaces cater to their nutritional needs, creating a caring and supportive environment conducive to growth and learning.
Located near Morris Township, Tamarack’s Explorer program offers exciting opportunities for 1st and 2nd graders to grow and explore. For 1st graders, the program introduces thrilling features like the Zipline and Giant Swing, along with engaging activities like GAGA. Meanwhile, 2nd graders enjoy the freedom to select weekly activities through the CHOICE period, including a Learn to Bike Program.
Explorers participate in modified traditional sports, creative arts such as ceramics and drama, and a comprehensive Learn-to-Swim Program in our state-of-the-art aquatic facility. They also experience the excitement of our inspected and certified ropes courses, starting with the Confidence Course. Throughout these experiences, Explorers develop social and emotional intelligence, learning valuable skills like collaboration and respect in a nurturing environment.
Located near Morris Township, junior campers at Tamarack experience a dynamic blend of creative and athletic activities tailored to their age group. They enjoy twice-daily swims and are introduced to advanced activities such as Archery, Mountain Biking, and High Ropes. Through the CHOICE program, they have the autonomy to select preferred activities to further develop their skills.
Special events like Junior Late Nights extend the camp experience with additional activities and twilight campfires, adding an extra layer of excitement. Juniors engage in a wide array of sports on full-size fields, refine their biking skills through a comprehensive program, and explore their creativity in air-conditioned art studios.
Our state-of-the-art aquatic facility supports their swimming progression, while the ropes course presents various challenges for them to conquer. All activities are meticulously designed to promote social skills and teamwork in a supportive, bully-free environment.
Located near Morris Township, senior campers at Tamarack are immersed in a diverse array of activities designed to engage their interests and foster personal growth. They participate in advanced sports such as soccer, football, tennis, and lacrosse, alongside creative arts experiences in air-conditioned studios including ceramics, music, and cooking. Senior campers have access to specialized athletic and creative programs that prioritize skill development and game play. The highlight of their experience often revolves around diverse day trips, with Camelbeach being a perennial favorite. Additionally, Senior Late Nights provide unique opportunities for dinner, extra activities, and twilight campfires, adding excitement and camaraderie to their summer.
Their schedule also includes swimming in a state-of-the-art aquatic facility, featuring tailored swim lessons and free swim sessions to enhance their aquatic skills. The comprehensive ropes course offers thrilling adventures such as climbing, ziplining, and repelling, catering to the adventurous spirits among them. Choices extend further to participating in the annual Drama Production or special Dance routines, with performances serving as a focal point of the camp experience. Throughout their time at Tamarack, the focus remains on building social skills, fostering teamwork, and facilitating personal growth within a supportive, bully-free environment.
In Morris Township, Tamarack offers an exclusive Teen Travel Program designed for 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. This program combines exhilarating day trips with engaging camp activities to provide a well-rounded experience for teens. On camp days, teens follow a structured group schedule that includes activities such as free swim, Ropes Courses, and various athletic and creative pursuits, all guided by our experienced counselors. During out-of-camp adventures, teens must adhere to Tamarack’s stringent Travel Safety Protocols to ensure their safety.
Each Teen Travel camper and their parents must agree to our Teen Travel Behavior Contract, underscoring our commitment to a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. A dedicated Division Head oversees the Teen Travel Programs both in camp and on trips, providing additional support and supervision.
Located near Morris Township, Oak Crest camp counselors guide groups through team-building challenges and competitions, emphasizing teamwork, support, and effective communication. This structured environment not only promotes respect but also nurtures lifelong friendships among campers.
At Oak Crest, we uphold a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, prioritizing the creation of a caring environment where children and young teens can develop essential emotional and social skills in a safe and supportive atmosphere.
Located near Morris Township, the Leader-In-Training (LIT) Experience at Tamarack is a dynamic program designed for 10th graders. It aims to equip them with essential leadership skills and practical experience for their future endeavors, whether it be their first job, college, or beyond. Serving as a bridge from camper to counselor, the program focuses on problem-solving, role modeling, and teamwork.
LITs undertake meaningful responsibilities and receive constructive feedback to help them grow into successful staff members. A highlight of the program is a 6-day leadership trip with Windsor Mountain, which challenges teens to step out of their comfort zones while focusing on teamwork, leadership, and responsibility. This adventurous trip not only contributes significantly to the camp community but also enhances the personal development and future opportunities of the participants.
