Located near Parsippany-Troy Hills, Tamarack offers a wide range of programs tailored to children aged 3-15, catering specifically to their physical and developmental needs. Beyond mere hobbies like swimming or baseball, Tamarack campers develop crucial traits such as independence, confidence, teamwork, resilience, and more.
The Tamarack Experience is enhanced by central transportation and a comprehensive lunch program. Our 37-acre facility boasts amenities like a heated Olympic-size pool, Pro-turf sports complex, air-conditioned studios, skate park, ropes course, and zip lines. These features are carefully designed to promote personal growth and life skills amidst the excitement of a traditional day camp.
Tamarack offers specialized programs for our youngest campers in the Parsippany-Troy Hills area, encompassing 5-full-day, 3-full-day, and 5-half-day options within our Munchkin Division. Our commitment to personalized attention is evident through a low camper-to-staff ratio. Our Munchkin Specialists, extensively trained to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-olds, lead a range of age-appropriate athletic and creative activities focused on enhancing motor skills. Additionally, our comprehensive swimming program ensures that every child acquires this essential skill.
Our program places a significant emphasis on fostering social development, helping children build respectful and confident interactions within a group setting. We provide dedicated meal times and spaces that cater to their nutritional needs, all within a nurturing and supportive environment.
At Tamarack, the Explorer program in the Parsippany-Troy Hills area adapts to the camper’s developmental stage. First graders are introduced to thrilling elements such as the Zipline and Giant Swing, along with activities like GAGA. Second graders have the autonomy to choose their weekly activities during the CHOICE period, including participating in a Learn to Bike Program.
Explorers engage in a range of activities, from modified traditional sports and creative arts like ceramics and drama, to a comprehensive Learn-to-Swim Program in our state-of-the-art aquatic facility. They also have the opportunity to explore our inspected and certified ropes courses, starting with the Confidence Course. Throughout their experience, Explorers cultivate social and emotional intelligence, honing their collaborative and respectful skills within a supportive environment.
At Tamarack’s Parsippany-Troy Hills location, junior campers are immersed in a rich array of creative and athletic pursuits, including bi-daily swimming sessions. They are also introduced to more advanced activities such as Archery, Mountain Biking, and High Ropes. The CHOICE program empowers junior campers with the freedom to select their preferred activities, enabling them to further develop their skills. Special events like Junior Late Nights extend the camp experience, offering additional activities and a twilight campfire.
Junior campers actively engage in a wide variety of sports on full-size fields, refine their biking abilities through a comprehensive program, and explore their creative side in air-conditioned art studios. Our state-of-the-art aquatic facility supports their swimming development, while the ropes course presents a range of challenges. All these activities are thoughtfully designed to nurture social skills and teamwork, within a respectful and inclusive environment that ensures a bully-free experience.
At Tamarack’s Parsippany-Troy Hills location, senior campers partake in a diverse range of activities that encompass advanced sports like soccer, football, tennis, and lacrosse. They also explore their creative side in air-conditioned studios, engaging in disciplines such as ceramics, music, and cooking. Specialized athletic and creative programs are readily available to promote skill development and active participation.
One of the highlights of the senior camper experience includes exciting day trips, with Camelbeach being a popular destination. Senior Late Nights provide unique opportunities, offering dinner, extra activities, and twilight campfires. Their schedule incorporates swimming in a state-of-the-art aquatic facility, featuring tailored swim lessons and open swim sessions. The comprehensive ropes course caters to adventurous spirits, with activities like climbing, ziplining, and rappelling.
Seniors have the choice to participate in the annual Drama Production or special dance routines, with performances being a prominent aspect of the camp. Throughout their journey, the emphasis remains on fostering social skills, teamwork, and personal growth, all within a nurturing and respectful environment that ensures a bully-free atmosphere.
At Tamarack, our 7th, 8th, and 9th Graders participate in the exclusive Teen Travel Program, which combines captivating day trips with engaging on-site camp activities. On camp days, Teens follow a structured group schedule, including activities like free swim, Ropes Courses, and a variety of athletic and creative pursuits, all under the supervision of our dedicated counselors.
For off-site adventures, Teens must adhere to rigorous Tamarack Travel Safety Protocols. Each Teen Travel camper and their parents are required to agree to our Teen Travel Behavior Contract to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. A Division Head oversees the Teen Travel Programs both at camp and on trips. Our Teen Staff undergo specialized training to effectively supervise campers in public settings and address the unique challenges of early adolescence. At Oak Crest in the Parsippany-Troy Hills area, camp counselors guide groups through team-building challenges and competitions, encouraging teamwork, support, and effective communication. This structured approach cultivates respect and forges lasting friendships. Oak Crest has a strict zero-tolerance policy against bullying and is dedicated to nurturing a supportive environment that fosters the development of crucial emotional and social skills in children and young teens.
The Leader-In-Training (LIT) Experience at Tamarack is designed for 10th graders, offering essential leadership skills and practical preparation for their future job roles, college endeavors, and beyond. This program serves as a transition from being a camper to becoming a counselor, with a strong emphasis on problem-solving, role modeling, and teamwork.
LITs shoulder meaningful responsibilities and receive valuable feedback, allowing them to develop into capable staff members. The program includes a 6-day leadership excursion with Windsor Mountain, centered on teamwork, leadership, and responsibility, encouraging teenagers to step beyond their comfort zones. This comprehensive experience not only significantly contributes to the camp community but also enriches their personal growth and future prospects.
