Located near Pequannock Township, Tamarack offers a diverse range of programs tailored to children aged 3-15. Our mission-driven approach ensures a nurturing environment conducive to the physical and developmental needs of each age group. Beyond mere hobbies like swimming or baseball, our programs instill qualities such as independence, confidence, teamwork, a willingness to explore new activities, determination, social and emotional intelligence, integrity, leadership, and resilience in your child. The Tamarack Experience is further enhanced by central transportation, a comprehensive lunch program, and a sprawling 37-acre facility.
Nestled within this expansive space are features designed to nurture these life skills amidst the excitement of a traditional day camp. From a heated Olympic size pool to a Pro-turf sports complex, air-conditioned studios, skate park, ropes course, and zip lines, every aspect of our facility is crafted to promote growth and adventure.
Tamarack offers tailored programs for our youngest campers in the Pequannock Township area, featuring options like 5-full-day, 3-full-day, and 5-half-day sessions within our Munchkin Division. We maintain a low camper-to-staff ratio to provide individualized attention. Our Munchkin Specialists are specifically trained to work with children aged 3, 4, and 5. They lead a range of age-appropriate athletic and creative activities focused on enhancing motor skills. Additionally, our program includes a comprehensive swimming component, ensuring that every child acquires this essential skill.
Furthermore, our program places a strong emphasis on fostering social development. Children in this division learn how to engage respectfully and confidently in group settings. We provide dedicated meal times and spaces to meet their nutritional needs, all within a caring and supportive environment.
At Tamarack, our Explorer program in the Pequannock Township area is designed to adapt as campers progress. First graders are introduced to thrilling activities such as the Zipline and Giant Swing, alongside engaging in games like GAGA. Second graders have the freedom to choose from various weekly activities during the CHOICE period, including participation in a Learn to Bike Program.
Within the Explorer program, children also participate in modified traditional sports, explore creative arts like ceramics and drama, and undergo a comprehensive Learn-to-Swim Program in our state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Additionally, they have the opportunity to experience our inspected and certified ropes courses, starting with the Confidence Course. Throughout these experiences, Explorers develop their social and emotional intelligence, learning valuable skills in collaboration and respect within a nurturing environment.
At Tamarack, our Junior campers in the Pequannock Township area participate in a diverse range of creative and athletic activities, including twice-daily swims. They are introduced to advanced pursuits such as Archery, Mountain Biking, and High Ropes, with the freedom to select preferred activities through the CHOICE program for skill development.
Special events like Junior Late Nights provide extended camp access with additional activities and a twilight campfire experience. Junior campers engage in a wide variety of sports on full-size fields, refine their biking abilities through a comprehensive program, and nurture their creative side in air-conditioned art studios. Our state-of-the-art aquatic facility supports their swimming progress, while the ropes course offers various challenges. All activities are thoughtfully designed to promote social skills and teamwork within a bully-free environment.
At Tamarack, our Senior campers in the Pequannock Township area engage in a diverse range of activities, including advanced sports such as soccer, football, tennis, and lacrosse. They also explore creative arts in air-conditioned studios, delving into disciplines like ceramics, music, and cooking. Our programs are designed to emphasize skill development and gameplay, providing specialized athletic and creative opportunities.
One of the highlights for many Seniors is our diverse range of day trips, with Camelbeach being a favorite destination. Additionally, Senior Late Nights offer unique experiences with dinner, extra activities, and twilight campfires. The schedule includes swimming in a state-of-the-art aquatic facility with customized swim lessons and free swim sessions. For the adventurous, our comprehensive ropes course offers activities like climbing, ziplining, and rappelling.
Seniors also have the option to participate in the annual Drama Production or special Dance routines, with performances being a prominent aspect of the camp experience. Throughout their time at Tamarack, the focus remains on fostering social skills, teamwork, and personal growth within a supportive, bully-free environment.
At Tamarack, our 7th, 8th, and 9th Graders are enrolled in the exclusive Teen Travel Program, which combines thrilling day trips with engaging camp activities. On camp days, Teens follow a structured group schedule, participating in activities such as free swim, Ropes Courses, and various athletic and creative pursuits, all guided by our counselors.
During out-of-camp adventures, Teens are expected to adhere to the rigorous Tamarack Travel Safety Protocols. Each Teen Travel camper and their parents must agree to our Teen Travel Behavior Contract to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. A dedicated Division Head oversees both the Teen Travel Programs within the camp and accompanies the Teens on trips. Our Teen Staff undergo specialized training to effectively supervise campers in public settings and address the unique challenges of the early teenage years. At Oak Crest in the Pequannock Township area, camp counselors guide groups in team-building challenges and competitions, emphasizing the development of teamwork, support, and communication. This structured approach cultivates respect and facilitates the formation of enduring friendships. Oak Crest has a strict zero-tolerance policy against bullying and is dedicated to nurturing a compassionate environment that enables children and young teenagers to acquire crucial emotional and social skills.
The Leader-In-Training (LIT) Experience at Tamarack is a dynamic program designed for 10th graders, equipping them with crucial leadership skills and practical experience applicable to their future endeavors, including their first job and college. Serving as a transition from camper to counselor, the program places a strong emphasis on problem-solving, role modeling, and teamwork.
LITs are entrusted with meaningful responsibilities and receive constructive feedback, fostering their growth into accomplished staff members. The program also features an adventurous 6-day leadership trip with Windsor Mountain, centered on teamwork, leadership, and personal responsibility. This experience challenges teenagers to step out of their comfort zones and ultimately contributes significantly to the camp community while enriching their personal development and future prospects.
