Summer Camp near Sparta, NJ
Pine Brook offers a range of programs catering to children aged 3-15, aligning with their specific physical and developmental milestones. Our mission-driven approach creates a nurturing environment for campers to cultivate various skills and essential life competencies. We focus on intentional opportunities for success, fostering a summer experience that contributes to enhanced confidence, independence, and overall well-roundedness. In addition to acquiring new hobbies such as swimming or baseball, children at Pine Brook develop independence, confidence, teamwork, a willingness to explore new activities, determination, social and emotional intelligence, integrity, leadership, and resilience.
The Pine Brook Experience is augmented by central transportation, a comprehensive lunch program, and a 37-acre facility featuring a heated Olympic-size pool, Pro-turf sports complex, air-conditioned studios, skate park, ropes course, and zip lines. These amenities are designed to seamlessly integrate life skill development with the enjoyment and adventure of a traditional day camp.
3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
Pine Brook offers customized programs for our youngest campers in the Munchkin Division, providing 5-full-day, 3-full-day, and 5-half-day options. The camp maintains a low camper-to-staff ratio to ensure personalized attention. Munchkin Specialists, specifically trained to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-olds, lead scaled-down athletic and creative activities to enhance motor skills. The program includes a comprehensive swimming component to ensure that each child acquires this essential skill.
Emphasis is placed on social development as children learn to interact respectfully and confidently in a group setting. Dedicated meal times and spaces are provided to meet their nutritional needs within a caring and supportive environment.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
At Pine Brook, the Explorer program adapts to campers’ development, introducing 1st graders to features such as the Zipline and Giant Swing, along with activities like GAGA. 2nd graders have the freedom to choose weekly activities during the CHOICE period, including a Learn to Bike Program. The program includes modified traditional sports, creative arts such as ceramics and drama, and a comprehensive Learn-to-Swim Program in our state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Explorers also engage in inspected and certified ropes courses, starting with the Confidence Course. Throughout these experiences, social and emotional intelligence is fostered, as campers learn to collaborate and interact respectfully in a nurturing environment at Pine Brook.
Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
Young campers at Pine Brook participate in a variety of creative and athletic activities, including twice-daily swims. They are introduced to advanced pursuits like Archery, Mountain Biking, and High Ropes. The CHOICE program allows them autonomy in selecting preferred activities to further develop their skills. Special events, such as Junior Late Nights, offer extended camp access with additional activities and a twilight campfire.
Junior campers engage in diverse sports on full-size fields, enhance biking skills through a comprehensive program, and explore creativity in air-conditioned art studios. The state-of-the-art aquatic facility supports their swimming progression, while the ropes course provides various challenges. All activities are purposefully designed to promote social skills and teamwork within a bully-free environment at Pine Brook.
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
Senior campers at Pine Brook engage in various activities, including advanced sports like soccer, football, tennis, and lacrosse, along with creative arts in air-conditioned studios such as ceramics, music, and cooking. They have access to specialized athletic and creative programs that emphasize skill development and game play. Diverse day trips, with Camelbeach being a favorite, and Senior Late Nights with dinner, extra activities, and twilight campfires are significant highlights.
Their schedule includes swimming in a state-of-the-art aquatic facility, featuring tailored swim lessons and free swim sessions. The comprehensive ropes course provides opportunities for climbing, ziplining, and repelling for those with adventurous spirits. Choices extend to participating in the annual Drama Production or special Dance routines, with performances being a key feature of the camp. Throughout these experiences, the focus remains on building social skills, teamwork, and personal growth in a supportive, bully-free environment at Pine Brook.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
At Pine Brook, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders participate in the exclusive Teen Travel Program, alternating between day trips and on-site camp activities. During camp days, Teens follow a structured group schedule, engaging in activities like free swim, Ropes Courses, and various athletic and creative pursuits, guided by counselors.
For off-site excursions, Teens must adhere to Pine Brook’s Travel Safety Protocols. Each Teen Travel camper and their parents must agree to the Teen Travel Behavior Contract to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. A dedicated Division Head oversees both in-camp and off-site Teen Travel Programs, accompanying them on trips. Specialized training is provided to the Teen Staff to effectively supervise campers in public settings and address the unique challenges of early teenage years.

Social Development
Counselors at Pine Brook guide groups through team-building challenges and competitions, emphasizing teamwork, support, and communication. The structured environment is designed to cultivate respect and facilitate the development of lifelong friendships. Pine Brook enforces a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and is dedicated to establishing a nurturing environment where children and young teens can develop crucial emotional and social skills.
LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The Leader-In-Training (LIT) Experience at Pine Brook is a dynamic program designed for 10th graders, providing them with essential leadership skills and practical experience for future endeavors. Serving as a transition from camper to counselor, the program emphasizes problem-solving, role modeling, and teamwork. LITs take on meaningful responsibilities, receiving constructive feedback to develop into successful staff members. The program includes a 6-day leadership trip with Windsor Mountain, focusing on teamwork, leadership, and responsibility, challenging teens to step out of their comfort zones. This experience significantly contributes to the camp community while enhancing personal development and future opportunities for participants at Pine Brook.
